Sanders sees a smoother Florida Gators offense in 2018

On Saturday night, the Florida Gators had several of its top targets on campus for the season opener despite the opponent being Charleston Southern.

One of the top targets on campus was running back Trey Sanders (6-0, 214, Bradenton, FL. IMG Academy) who was in town to see the Gators and also watch his brother Umstead Sanders debut for the Gators.

“It was great, got a chance to watch my brother play, it was pretty cool,” Sanders said of visit to Florida. “It was blessing, I’ve seen my brother go through a lot so just for him to be able to have the opportunity to play college football at the D1 level was pretty cool.”

Sanders also got the chance to talk to several coaches while on campus including head coach Dan Mullen.

“I got to [Greg] Knox and Coach [Dan] Mullen a lot before the game,” he said on if he got to talk to the coaches on Saturday. “The same thing, come and play.”

While watching the game, Sanders not only paid close attention to his brother but he also paid attention to the Gators offense and he liked what quarterback Feleipe Franks did on offense.

“You see Florida coming out, Feleipe [Franks] had a great game,” Sanders said of the Gators performance on Saturday. “The running back had a great day to. I think they really have a chance now.”

Sanders who visited Florida several times last year noticed a big different between last year and this year on offense for the Gaotrs.

“The offense ran pretty smooth today [Saturday],” he said of the Gators offense. “A lot smoother than last year since Coach Mullen became a part of it.”

Despite the trip to Gainesville on Saturday, Sanders said he’s unsure of any other visits coming up because of his tough high school schedule.

“Not sure, I just came up here to support my brother this weekend,” Sanders said on upcoming trips. “I’m just going to take some officials but I haven’t gotten them scheduled yet.”

Sanders who plans to sign early now says that he knows when he wants to make a decision on his future.

“Probably October or November,” he said on when he plans to announce a decision.

INSIDERS TAKE: Sanders says he still plans to sign early but because of his schedule at IMG, he’s not sure when he will make official visits.
