The Florida Gators picked up their 7th commitment of the Class of 2024 on Thursday night following the spring game.
Safety Xavier Filsaime (6-1, 180, McKinney, TX. High) committed to the Florida Gators over Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, and several others on Thursday.
Filsaime who’s originally from the state of Florida still has family in the central Florida area and that was big draw for the safety and the Gators.
The Texas native has played receiver in high school before moving to safety the last two seasons and that’s where defensive backs coach Corey Raymond likes Filsaime.
Filsaime ran 10.52 in the 100-meter as a sophomore and a 22.38 in the 200-meter and was named first team All-District as a junior.
Now that Filsaime has joined the class, he joins safety Josiah Davis in the defensive backfield room as the Gators look to add several other defensive backs to the class.
Filsaime is the second Texas native to commit to Florida joining quarterback commit DJ Lagway and he’s the fifth out of state prospect to join the class as only Chauncey Bowens and Adarius Hayes are the only two members who play ball in the sunshine state.
