Rucker likes the home feeling during his Florida Gators visit

Several top prospects visited the Florida Gators on Friday ahead of their 7-on-7 tournament this weekend and included in that group of guys were two Florida commits.

2021 receiver commit Trevonte Rucker (5-11, 157, Ocala, FL. Vanguard) was on campus and enjoyed getting back to Gainesville after committing to Florida in early February.

“It was a good feeling, I talked to all of the coaches,” Rucker said of his first visit to Gainesville since committing to Florida. “Coach [Billy] Gonzales and Coach [Christian] Robinson were just telling me that I need to get ready and stay on top of my grades and just be humble.”

Rucker who was once a Florida commit says the feeling he gets in Gainesville led him back to the Gators class.

“It was a decision, I had called them the night before and talked to them and they told me what it was and I just went ahead,” he said on why he committed to Florida a few weeks ago. “Florida is home.”

Receivers coach Billy Gonzales spent time with Rucker and the rest of the receivers on Friday explaining how they could improve their game.

“Coach Gonzales took all of the receivers in the room and we were just going over film and junk like that,” Rucker said of his time with Gonzales. “He was just going over technique, we could work on and what he works on with the boys at Florida.”

Linebackers coach Christian Robinson has been the main recruiter for Rucker for a few years now and the relationship between the two of them is strong.

“Coach Robinson and I have been down since my freshman year,” he said of his relationship with Christian Robinson. “He’s family now, he has just been talking to me and we have a good relationship.”

Despite being a Florida commit, Rucker says he may take a few other visits to other schools.

“Penn State and Auburn,” Rucker said on schools he wants to visits. “They’re unofficial visits right now but they may be officials.”

Even though Rucker may visit some other schools, he had a message on his status with the Gators.

“I’m committed, I’m not decommitting,” he said on his commitment level to Florida.
