Ross likes the energy around the Florida Gators’ coaches

The state of Alabama has been good to the Florida Gators over the last few years as the staff has been able to pull some top players from the state to Gainesville.

This year the Gators are after more Alabama players including defensive end Jordan Ross (6-5, 215, Birmingham, AL. Vestavia Hills) who was on campus this weekend.

“It was great, I enjoyed it really well,” Ross said of his visit to Florida this weekend. “My host was Kelby Collins, he showed me a great time around Gainesville. I got to see where they made Gatorade, that was really cool, they’re still making more stuff.”

Ross enjoyed the atmosphere in the football building this weekend and likes how the staff keeps the same personality no matter the day.

“I love all the coaches because they show the same energy every day,” he said on what he likes about the coaches. “They aren’t just showing any fake energy and the players said yeah they show that every day.”

The coaching staff’s message to Ross this weekend really stood out and he was impressed with how honest they were with him.

“Academics,” Ross said on what the coaches hit on this weekend. “They were pretty much brutally honest about whether I would play or not and showed who would be ahead of me and behind me. Coach [Mike] Peterson showed some of the players and he said he was low at my position. He said they needed more players at my position.”

Ross liked how the staff broke down where he would play and he’s very familiar with it as he plays a similar role in high school.

“I think I fit pretty great in that scheme,” he said on how he thinks he fits in Florida’s defense. “They want me to move around and be versatile in their whole defensive scheme. I like it, at my school, I move around a lot like they do here.”

This was the second time for Ross to be on campus and he says this visit helped the Gators because he was able to learn more about the town.

“I think it does a really job for them,” Ross said on what this visit does for Florida. “My first visit, I didn’t really know too much but now I’m getting to know the whole town of Gainesville and it’s really great.”

Next up for Ross will be more official visits including a few that will take place in the fall.

“I’m taking LSU, USC, and Oregon in the fall,” he said on official visits. “I take Georgia next week, Texas, and then Tennessee.”
