Rod Kearney flips his commitment from FSU to Florida

The Florida Gators received their 22nd commitment in the 2023 class when offensive lineman Roderick Kearney committed to Florida on Monday night.

Kearney took to Twitter to announce his decommitment from Florida State.

“Florida State has been my top school since I’ve been going through the recruiting process. I’ve spent a lot of time praying and discussing with my family about my college career, and it has led me elsewhere. I want to thank coach Norvell, coach Atkins, and the rest of the coaching staff the best going forward, but I would like to say that I’m decommitting from Florida State,” Kearney wrote.

Kearney immediately followed with his commitment to Florida on Twitter with the caption “Gator baby 904 to the 352”.

Kearney visited Florida four times in 2022 alone. Despite his commitment to FSU, Kearney showed interest in Florida throughout his entire process.

The Orange Park High product stands tall at 6-4, 300 pounds and holds offers from Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, Florida State and more.

This is a huge addition for Billy Napier and this staff. OL is certainly a position of need for the 2023 and 2024 classes; one could argue that it’s always a position of need.

The commitment from Kearney moved the Gators up to the 8th ranked recruiting class in the country, passing Clemson in the process.
