The Florida Gators held their elite junior day on Saturday and several prospects were on campus to see Jon Sumrall and his coaching staff.
Defensive end Kaiden Robinson-Vickers (6-4, 260, Dunnellon, FL. High) was on campus just one day after picking up an offer from the Gators.
“It’s very great because of the proximity of being close to home you know family is not too far away,” Robinson-Vickers said of picking up a Florida offer. “It’s great and just being evaluated and offered by a very good team, it’s very heartwarming for me and my family. I’m super glad that I was able to pick it up.”
Defensive line coach Gerald Chatman offered Robinson-Vickers on Friday and their relationship is growing.
“Me and Coach Chatman are just now developing a relationship,” he said. “It’s a very good relationship that I feel will be deep rooted and successful maybe through my career. I just plan on building it by doing little things just like this junior day.”
Saturday wasn’t the first time for Robinson-Vickers to visit Gainesville, but junior day was a chance for him to see everything more in-depth.
“I’ve been up here quite a few times,” Robinson-Vickers said. “I went here last year on the bus tour, we toured the facilities and stuff like that, it was a pretty great experience just to come up here and see it the first time. This junior day it just looks more surreal and then also with the basketball game being here today, it just looks even better. You can see the tradition.”
Robinson-Vickers admits that the Florida offer is intriguing one to him as he grew up watching the Gators and they’re close to home.
“I grew up watching them so they would sit pretty high on my list,” he said on where Florida stands for him. “I also know what they’re already about even before being recruited by them. I know they’re nothing, but hard, relentless football and I know that I could easily fit in if I decided to commit here.”
The defensive lineman is starting to see more offers come in by the day and he wants to awhile before making a decision.
“So I plan to commit by maybe end of summer going into my senior year,” Robinson-Vickers said. “I feel like that’s just a great time period for me, I will be releasing my top 10 list and things like that over the next few months.”
A few other schools are standing out to Robinson-Vickers along with the Gators early in the process.
“UNC, they stand out for me,” he said on other schools recruiting him hard. “UCF as well, I have a very good relationship with Coach Martin over there. Mississippi State as well, they have a great program and stuff like that over there. Those are a few that I would look into as well as with Florida.”
