Robinson still listening to the Florida Gators despite his Texas commitment

On Saturday night, the Florida Gators had several targets on campus that are committed to other schools including an in-state prospect.

Texas defensive line commit D’Antre Robinson (6-4, 314, Orlando, FL. Jones) was on campus and enjoyed the atmosphere in the Swamp for the Charlotte game.

“I thought it was a good atmosphere,” Robinson said of his visit to Florida. “I feel like they could’ve put a couple of more points on the board, but they were missing a few offensive linemen up front. It was still a pretty good atmosphere, everyone was tuned in, it was sold-out.”

The Gators’ offense struggled at times during the game but the defense played solid all night and that stuck out to Robinson.

“I feel like the defensive front played very well,” he said on Florida’s defense. “They had some sacks up-front; I see Caleb Banks had a sack, maybe two of them. The defensive line played pretty good, lights out.”

Head coach Billy Napier met with Robinson on Saturday before and after the game and the Texas commit always feels welcomed by the head man.

“He was super happy to see me,” Robinson said Napier’s reaction to seeing him. “He says I’m one of his favorite players that he’s recruiting and everything. Napier always shows love when he sees me. It was pretty cool talking to him on the field after the game and everything. The message is just stay home and that he loves me.”

Robinson committed to Texas in July, but the Gators have continued to stay on the defensive lineman, and they have a simple message for him.

“They’re still recruiting me super hard,” he said on Florida. “The message is to stay home that you’re supposed to be a Gator because it’s your dream school. That’s the message right now.”

The Orlando native was on campus for the first time this year on Saturday and he says he plans to return to the Swamp again this year.

“Maybe a little bit,” Robinson said on if he’s still considering Florida. “I think so [on if he will be back for another]. I haven’t checked but I have to look over the schedule again.”

Despite his commitment to Texas, Robinson says the Gators still have a shot at him because of a few things that are important to him.

“Yeah, they have a little chance,” he said on if Florida has a shot with him. “Because it’s close to home, closer to home and all my family are Florida fans.”
