Robinson recaps his recent Florida Gators visit in June

Two weeks ago, the Florida Gators coaching staff hosted several big targets in the 2023 class on campus for the Gators Elite camp before the dead period started back up.

2023 defensive back Antonio Robinson Jr (5-10, 170, Miami, FL. Florida Christian School) was one of those guys on campus and he felt at home in Gainesville.

“The visit was awesome,” Robinson said of his visit to Florida in June. “I got to try on the uniform, had a tour, talk to Dan Mullen and did film with the defensive backs coach. I had a chance to talk to all the important coaches on the staff. They make you feel at home.”

Defensive backs coach Jules Montinar watched film with Robinson and showed him some plays about how he coaches the position and how he would fit into Florida’s defense.

“We watched some plays about his philosophy,” he said on watching film with Jules. “He’s big on making plays and turnovers. He said you take what you practice and apply to the game when the situation presents itself.”

Robinson plays all over the secondary in high school and the Gators haven’t narrowed down where he would play at in Gainesville yet, but he has a pretty good idea after meeting with the coaches.

“I never asked the question, but we discussed mainly cornerback,” Robinson said on where Florida wants him to play. “The safety coach [Wesley McGriff] said I will play all over the secondary, pretty much just learning everything.”

The defensive back has a lot of school recruiting him, but Robinson says he has a lot of interest in the Gators for a few reasons.

“I like Florida,” he said on his interest in the Gators. “They’re definitely in my top interest, the culture, the atmosphere the coaches created there is great.”

Robinson says a few other school are also recruiting him hard as he hopes to take visits to several other schools before making a decision.

“Miami, Penn State, Texas, Kentucky, South Carolina, and several more,” Robinson said on schools recruiting him hard.
