Ridley finally gets a Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators have been on a scholarship offering spree in South Florida and they continued that trend on Wednesday afternoon.

Receiver Cavin Ridley (6-1, 190, Coconut Creek, FL Monarch) was the prospect who received the offer on Wednesday and the Gators offer was one that Ridley has been hoping for.

“I’ve been waiting for awhile to get the offer. I’m happy I finally got the Florida offer,” Ridley said. “Coach [Kerry] Dixon told me to call him and when I called him he said that he could use me at Florida and that he liked the way I played aggressive. He said he wanted me and that I had the offer.”

Ridley has multiple offers from several big name schools but receiving an offer from Florida was almost a dream come true because the receiver admits to being a Gators fan.

“I’m very happy about the Florida offer because Florida has been my favorite college since I was little,” Ridley said. “I’m very excited about it. I’m most definitely going to visit Florida. Florida is the one visit that I have to take either this spring or this summer. I have to talk to my coach about it because he wants to come up for a visit with me too.”

When receivers coach Kerry Dixon was on the phone with Ridley the Gators new coach made sure to tell Ridley that playmakers were needed in Gainesville.

“Coach Dixon told me that Florida has a big need for receivers,” Ridley said. “Them needing receivers is something that caught my eye and has me thinking about Florida a lot.”

With Dixon only being at Florida for a few weeks now the 2016 receiver has yet to meet the new coach, but Ridley says he did get a good first impression from Dixon on Wednesday.

“I’m not too familiar with him but I plan to meet him soon,” Ridley said. “The way he was talking on the phone though he sounded like a cool guy that knew what he was doing. I was really liking his vibe though.”

Not only does Ridley want to visit Florida to meet Dixon but he also wants to see what the Florida Gators have to offer and also what it means to be a Florida Gators football player.

“I just want to go up there and see how it is to be a Gator because I’ve always wanted to be a Gator growing up so I want to see how it is,” Ridley said. “Now that I have the chance to be a Gator I want to go through my process and see everything and at the end see if it’s going to be the Gators or not.”

If the name Ridley rings a bell it’s because Ridley’s older brother Calvin was a five-star receiver that signed with Alabama last year, but the younger Ridley says that won’t play a factor into his decision.

“I’ve go to go somewhere that fits me,” Ridley said. “I tell everyone that ask me this question that I can’t just go to Alabama because my brother goes there. I want to play as well so I have to go wherever I can play and make my own name.”

INSIDERS TAKE: I truly believe the Gators will be a factor for Ridley not only because of him liking the Gators but also because of the need for playmakers in Gainesville.

  1. So his name is Cavin and his brother is Calvin? Yeah I’m sure that didn’t get confusing when they were growing up lol Hopefully this Ridley is as good as the his brother because Calvin looks like he’s gonna be a stud for Bama. Hope we land him!
