Richerd Desir Jones makes 11 for Florida Gators

The Florida Gators are hosting a big weekend full of official visitors and on Saturday one of the visitors decided to pull the trigger and commit to Florida.

Offensive lineman Richerd Desir Jones (6-3, 292, Fort Lauderdale, FL. St. Thomas Aquinas) decided to flip his commitment to Florida from Florida International on Saturday afternoon as Jones announced his decision on Twitter.

“UF COMMIITTED,” Jones said on Twitter. “All thanks to my family, my coaches and my teammates. They’re the ones who make a better person and player. Swamp life.”

Jones, who Florida visited last week and offered him on Saturday, comes from the powerhouse program of St. Thomas Aquinas who went on to win a state championship behind a powerful rushing attack this year.

More importantly for Florida, Jones is a versatile lineman that played both defensive tackle and offensive line in high school and is athletic enough to play both guard and tackle in college.

Jones is the 11th commitment for the Florida Gators in the class of 2015 and joins offensive linemen Michael Horton, Tyler Jordan and Brandon Sandifer as members of the offensive line class.

With Jones now committed to Florida the Gators are slowly adding more depth on the offensive line as they currently sit with only seven scholarship linemen. Jim McElwain and company are trying to add at least six offensive linemen to this class.

Two of Florida’s current commits took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to welcome Jones to the class of 2015.

“Welcome to the family bro,” offensive lineman Brandon Sandifer said. “Let’s live it up tonight.”

“Shoutout to my boy Richerd Desir-Jones on his commitment,” offensive lineman Tyler Jordan said. “Welcome to the family.”

  1. 3 stats from florida are better than 4 stars from other states. This kid if from St Thomas Aquinas and I will bet he is a lot better than people give him credit for. People can laugh all they want at us getting an FIU commit but I’ll take a 3 star from St Thomas Aquinas all day
