Rice hyped up to be offered by the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators are busy going through fall camp but on Monday they handed out a new offer to an underclassmen.

2022 offensive lineman Zach Rice (6-5, 300, Lynchburg, VA. Liberty Christian Academy) picked up an offer from Florida when he talked to one of the Gators support staff members.

“Charlie Skalaski offered me,” Rice said of the coach who offered him on Monday. “We called him around 12:30, he was kind of in a rush and he said they only allow and offer certain people at Florida and he gave me the offer. We talked a lot about when I can visit and maybe watch a game.”

Skalaski explained to Rice on Monday exactly why the Gators wanted to extend an early offer to the offensive lineman.

“He said they like my character and how I work,” he said on what Florida likes about him. “He also knows my coach and my coach told him about my work ethic and I’m just trying to remain humble and he said the offensive lien coach and the recruiter that recruits my school liked my film.”

The Florida offer now gives Rice three scholarship offers but he admits this is a big one for his recruitment.

“I’m so hyped and blessed,” Rice said of what the offer means to him. “That offer is a dream that I’ve worked for and I couldn’t believe it. That offer makes me want to work even harder.”

Rice knows a good bit about the Gators football program but he admits that he’s not very familiar with the university.

“I don’t know a lot about their facilities and athletics except for football,” he said on what he knows about Florida. “I know their academics are amazing and they have amazing history.”

Now that Florida has offered Rice, the Gators are trying to get the offensive lineman on campus and the lineman is interested in visiting as well.

“I don’t,” Rice said on if he has any top schools. “It would definitely help to visit Florida and see them.”
