Reid hired as quality control coach for defensive line

Billy Napier has hired Kareem Reid as a quality control coach. Reid will work with the defensive line.

The North Miami native spent the 2021 season as UCF’s director of player development.

Prior to that, he worked as a high school assistant coach and head coach in Florida and Georgia from 2009-17.

Reid led Westlake High School in Atlanta to three consecutive GHSA Region 2-7A championships and three playoff appearances from 2016-18. He was named the region coach of the year in 2016 and 2018.

He played on the defensive line at UCF from 2004-06 and graduated with a degree in criminal justice in 2006. He earned his master’s degree in teaching health and physical education at Georgia State University in 2019.

Ethan was born in Gainesville and has lived in the Starke, Florida, area his entire life. He played basketball for five years and knew he wanted to be a sportswriter when he was in middle school. He’s attended countless Gators athletic events since his early childhood, with baseball being his favorite sport to attend. He’s a proud 2019 graduate of the University of Florida and a 2017 graduate of Santa Fe College. He interned with the University Athletic Association’s communications department for 1 ½ years as a student and also wrote for InsideTheGators.com for two years before joining Gator Country in 2021.
