Reed commits and signs with Florida

Florida picked up a defensive tackle earlier on Wednesday morning and now the Gators have added another one.

East Mississippi Community College defensive tackle Jarran Reed has committed to Florida over Alabama and Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Reed has two of his good friends already on campus in Gainesville in Darious Cummings and Damien Jacobs, which helped Florida.

“That definitely helps Florida,” Reed’s mom told GatorCountry.com. “To have two of his good friends at Florida is big because he will have a familiar face around him when he gets on campus.”

Reed was committed to Ole Miss since December but he took an official visit to Florida in early January and enjoyed the trip.

Reed joins Caleb Brantley, Darious Cummings and Jay-nard Bostwick as defensive tackles in the Class of 2013.
