Receiver TJ Jones enjoyed the Florida Gators atmosphere on Saturday

The Florida Gators had several of its top targets in the south endzone for Saturday’s season opening game against Charleston Southern in the Swamp.

One of those targets was receiver TJ Jones (6-1, 185, Lake City, FL. Columbia) who visited on Saturday and liked the atmosphere.

“It was a pretty good visit,” Jones said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “It was an alright game, they were suppose to beat them. The atmosphere was live.”

Jones didn’t arrive until later in the game so he didn’t get to see a lot of the Gators offense early on.

“I didn’t really tune into the offense that hard,” he said on his thoughts on the offense. “When I got there it was already a blowout and they were just running the ball a lot.”

The receiver did a get a chance to talk receivers coach Billy Gonzales and the Gators coach had a few questions for Jones.

“I talked to Coach Gonzales after the game,” he said on the coaches he talked to. “He wasn’t saying much but he was just chatting with me about the game. He just asked where I’m at with my recruitment.”

Jones has been on campus a lot in Gainesville but the interest level between the two parties is still growing.

“It’s a distant relationship right now,” Jones said of his relationship with Florida. “I’m interested in them right now but I’m trying to see their interest in me right now.”

The Gators aren’t the only school recruiting Jones as several other rivals of Florida are after the receiver.

“Miami, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Nebraska,” he said on the other schools recruiting him hard. “I don’t have any other visits planned right now though.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Jones says he hopes to visit Florida again this fall for another game but no visits are set up just yet.
