Florida is set to kick off the 2026 season in just 24 days. Here’s my ranking of every game on Florida’s schedule from hardest to easiest.
1. @ Texas
The most difficult matchup for Florida in the 2026 season is Texas. The Gators actually beat the Longhorns 29-21 last year in The Swamp, proving Florida has the talent to compete with the best teams on its schedule.
Texas is a likely preseason top-five team after going 10-3 (6-2 SEC) last season and just missing the College Football Playoff. The Longhorns return quarterback Arch Manning, who finished the 2025 season on a strong note. Manning is surrounded by one of the best wide receiver duos in the country in Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo. On defense, Texas is led by one of the best defensive players in the country in edge rusher Colin Simmons.
The Longhorns have elite talent all over the field and could realistically have a handful of first-round picks on their roster.
Florida will travel to Austin in Week 7 to face Texas, which went 6-0 at home last season.
2. Georgia
The Bulldogs just barely edged out Texas for the top spot in the 2026 Preseason SEC Poll, but I have Florida’s matchup with Georgia ranked behind the Longhorns.
Florida hasn’t beaten Georgia since the 2020 season, having lost five straight. The 2026 season will present another challenge for the Gators, as the Bulldogs should be good along both lines of scrimmage once again. I do question their wide receiver room, but with Gunner Stockton back at quarterback and Kirby Smart at the helm, the Bulldogs will be a tough out this season.
The Gators will take on Georgia in Atlanta in Week 9.
3. Oklahoma
Oklahoma is my sleeper team to win the SEC. While not possessing as much talent as Texas and Georgia, the Sooners should have another excellent defense under Brent Venables, a unit that ranked among the nation’s top 10 in both total and scoring defense last season.
On offense, Oklahoma is hoping for a healthy John Mateer at quarterback after injuries limited him last season. I love the additions Oklahoma made at wide receiver in Parker Livingstone and Trell Harris. They also returned their top receiver from last season in Isaiah Sategna, who fell just short of 1,000 yards last season. Oklahoma also returned four experienced offensive linemen and grabbed the seventh-best tackle in the portal in E’Marion Harris. The Sooners’ revamped receiver room, with Sategna joined by Livingstone and Harris, should give Mateer plenty of weapons in 2026.
Florida plays Oklahoma at home in Week 10.
4. Ole Miss
Ole Miss shocked the country last season with a run to the College Football Playoff semifinals, all without Lane Kiffin during the playoff. And they return the man who helped make it happen, quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who is one of the preseason favorites to win the Heisman Trophy in 2026.
The Rebels are a tricky team to evaluate entering 2026. On one hand, they have the best QB/RB duo in the country in Chambliss and Kewan Lacy. They also had to overhaul their wide receiver room and replace much of their defense, including losing two key players to LSU in the offseason.
Still, the Rebels should have a strong interior defensive line and must-watch quarterback play.
Of the top four teams on this list, I’m most confident in Florida upsetting Ole Miss. The Gators took the Rebels down to the wire on the road last season and beat them in 2024 inside The Swamp.

5. @ Auburn
Florida travels to Auburn to take on the Tigers for its first conference matchup of the 2026 season. The Tigers and Gators are in a similar position: Both have first-year SEC head coaches and are coming off seasons in which they failed to reach bowl eligibility. So, as you can imagine, there’s a lot of pressure riding on this game for both teams.
Auburn’s offense was terrible last season, but it’s going to look a lot different in 2026. Ten of the 11 projected starters are newcomers via the transfer portal, most of whom came from USF.
I’m not thrilled at the idea of Alex Golesh bringing over all of his USF weapons. Although they are good players, I don’t think it necessarily helps elevate Byrum Brown’s game as he transitions into the SEC. Quite frankly, I think Auburn should have done more on this side of the ball, although it may not have had much of a choice.
Auburn’s defense should be good again in 2026, led by a strong linebacker corps and plenty of returning production.
This game should feature an electric atmosphere at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Week 3 and will likely be a toss-up come game day.
6. @ Missouri
This is another tricky game on Florida’s schedule, and it could easily be flipped with Auburn on this ranking. Missouri should have a strong running game behind a good offensive line and one of the best running backs in the country, Ahmad Hardy.
The big question, which will likely decide their season, is quarterback Austin Simmons. If Simmons plays well, the Tigers should have a highly effective offense.
Florida takes on the Tigers on the road in Week 5.
7. South Carolina
South Carolina was a huge disappointment last season, finishing with a 4-8 (1-7 SEC) record a year after nearly making the College Football Playoff. Their offensive line was among the worst in the country and couldn’t protect quarterback LaNorris Sellers. In response, the Gamecocks replaced their entire offensive line through the transfer portal.
The improvement along the offensive line will determine how much better the Gamecocks can get. Sellers is an athletic quarterback with a huge ceiling, and he’s got an explosive playmaker around him in wide receiver Nyck Harbor.
On defense, they are led by defensive lineman Dylan Stewart, a projected top-10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
8. @ Kentucky
These next three are nearly interchangeable in my eyes, but I gave the nod to Kentucky over FSU and Vanderbilt. I loved the Will Stein hire and their addition of quarterback Kenny Minchey.
Florida travels to Lexington in week 11.
9. @ FSU
I think FSU has more high-end talent compared to Kentucky and Vanderbilt, but I can’t envision them having much to play for at the end of the season. Duce Robinson is one of the best wide receivers in the country, and Michai Danzy is an electric WR2, but they have major question marks at quarterback, along the offensive line, and on defense as a whole.
10. Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt had an incredible 10-win season in 2025 but lost key performers at almost all positions. They are also relying on true freshman quarterback Jared Curtis. The Commodores were picked to finish 13th in the SEC, just ahead of Kentucky.
Florida hosts Vanderbilt in week 12.
11. FAU
FAU comes to Gainesville for the season opener. Caden Veltkamp is an experienced quarterback who threw for 3,641 yards and 24 touchdowns last season. Senior wide receiver Easton Messer also had more than 1,000 yards and six touchdowns last season.
The Owls had one of the worst defenses in the country in 2025.
12. Campbell
This ranking is self-explanatory. The Fighting Camels went 2-10 last year and are the lone FCS school on Florida’s schedule.
