Quarterback Nick Evers commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators have landed their quarterback for the 2022 class on Tuesday night when quarterback Nick Evers (6-3, 190, Flower Mound, TX. High) announced his commitment to Florida.

“Dear Mama, committed,” Evers posted on Twitter.

Evers has had multiple zoom calls with new quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee as well as one virtual visit with the entire coaching staff.

“It was great, Coach [Garrick] McGee connected with us, had a great discussion about their process,” Evers said of zoom call with Florida two weeks ago. “I know I’m sitting at the top of their board with a couple of other great quarterbacks.”

During the zoom calls McGee has explained to Evers how the quarterback would fit into the Gators’ offense.

“He also said he loves my size at 6’4 because I have a frame that will easily hold great weight specifically when you can stay fast,” Evers said on how he fits into the offense. “Then he mentioned my accuracy and quick release which is something you can’t teach.”

Evers is a guy who has quickly picked up a number of big offers but the chip on his shoulder of being a guy who picked up an offer late is something McGee likes about him.

“Coach McGee said he’s in the business of evaluating quarterbacks, he does his own evaluations and they collaborate as a staff on who fits what they want at Florida,” he said on what McGee told him. “He said he loves the fact that I was under the radar because guys like me have a healthy chip on their shoulders to prove doubters wrong.”

Evers has never visited Gainesville in person but he plans to do that soon as he will take a self-guided visit to Gainesville during his spring break in a few weeks.
