Previewing the official visitors for the Florida Gators for the December 9th weekend

The Florida Gators coaching staff will once again host official visitors this weekend before the team heads to Las Vegas for the bowl game.

Billy Napier and his staff will host 12 official visitors this weekend including a transfer who has entered the portal at a position of need.

GatorCountry brings you a preview of this weekend’s official visitors as the Gators look to close out the early signing period on a high note.

Gators going for the flip

One of the biggest positions of need remaining is tight end and this weekend the Gators will host Stanford tight end commit Jaden Platt on an official visit. Tight ends coach William Peagler has been working on Platt behind the scenes for weeks now and Platt will get his first view of Gainesville this weekend. Platt will visit Texas A&M next weekend before making a final decision.

Transfer to visit

Louisville defensive line transfer Caleb Banks plans to be in town this weekend as the Gators are one of many SEC offers so far for the defensive lineman. Auburn and Tennessee are also hoping to get Banks on campus soon before the defensive lineman makes a decision on his next school.

Offensive targets to visit

Offensive lineman Samson Okunlola is the biggest visitor of the weekend as the Gators battle Miami for the lineman who has a great relationship with quarterback commit Jaden Rashada. Okunlola had a great in-home visit with the Gators this week and that led to the official visit after the lineman spent multiple days in Gainesville last month.

Running back Mark Fletcher decommitted from Ohio State last month and the Gators have been the team with the most momentum for the running back. Miami is also pushing hard for Fletcher who will see Gainesville for the second time this weekend.

Offensive lineman Caden Jones has called Florida his leader for months now as Texas A&M currently is running second for the lineman. Jones plans to announce a decision in January and will sign in February, but this will be the Gators last chance to seal the deal with Jones before he announces a decision.

Defensive target to visit

UCF defensive line commit John Walker has been Gainesville multiple times this fall and is on record as saying he likes the Gators and would keep them in the mix until he signed. Walker will bring his mom to campus this weekend and that will give the staff a chance to get her on board with the Gators. UCF has done a good job with Walker, and this will be a battle until signing day.

Commits to visit

Joining the top targets this weekend will be five of the Gators’ commits who will be able to help recruit for the staff.

Defensive back commits Shariff Denson and Ja’Keem Jackson have had Miami hard after them for months now and this weekend the Gators look to put any concerns away as both prospects have said they’re solid with Florida.

Defensive line commit Gavin Hill will make the short drive over to campus for his official visit and the Gainesville native has been on campus multiple times this fall.

Defensive back commit Dijon Johnson and linebacker commit Jaden Robinson have both been solid to the Gators since announcing their decision and this weekend is just another chance for those guys to be around the coaching staff.
