Previewing June 16th official visitors for the Florida Gators

It has been a busy month of June for the Florida Gators coaching staff as they’ve hosted back-to-back weekends of official visitors as well as camps during the week.

This weekend the Gators will close out official visits for the month of June as they host 13 prospects on campus including several big targets for the staff.

GatorCountry brings you a preview of this weekend’s official visitors as the Gators hope to add several guys to the class.

Defensive linemen headed to the Swamp

Defensive line coach Sean Spencer has been busy this month and he will host four more official visitors this weekend including one of the best players in the country.

Defensive end Jamonta Waller visited Florida in the spring and the Gators like Waller at the defensive end/outside linebacker position so the Mississippi native can rush the passer. Waller plans to announce his commitment on August 26th as Florida is battling Auburn, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

Defensive lineman Nasir Johnson named Florida his leader after visiting South Carolina last weekend and the Gators hope to close the deal this weekend with the Georgia native. Johnson has a visit set up for Florida State next weekend and a decision could come after that visit is over.

Defensive lineman Nnamdi Ogboko was on campus to watch spring practice and now returns for his official visit. The North Carolina native visited South Carolina last weekend and visits Georgia next weekend after he visited Rutgers the first weekend of the month. Ogboko doesn’t have a decision date set but these visits should help Ogboko get a better idea on where his recruitment stands.

Defensive lineman Amaris Williams will be on campus for the first time this weekend as the North Carolina native has long said he’s eager to visit Gainesville. Penn State hosted Williams earlier this month and then Tennessee will host him, and Georgia is trying to get an official visit. Williams wants to have a decision before his senior year.

Defensive skill players to visit

Joining the defensive linemen on campus this weekend will be three other players on the defensive side of the ball including a fast-rising in-state player.

Linebacker Aaron Chiles has been on campus several times already and he likes linebackers coach Jay Bateman. Maryland and Michigan are two schools that are battling Florida for Chiles heading into the visit.

Defensive back Teddy Foster will make the drive up from Sarasota on Friday after he visited Gainesville earlier this month. Foster picked up an offer this spring and is a guy that is rising on a lot of recruiting boards right now. Foster likes the Gators a lot and his sister graduated from Florida which helps the Gators. Mack Brown and North Carolina are also recruiting Foster hard and seem to be the Gators’ biggest competition early on.

Defensive back Wardell Mack will make the trip from Louisiana this weekend after he visited Florida in the spring. Mack is rumored to be leaning toward LSU but Florida State and Texas will also get visits from Mack.

Offensive linemen headed to town

Offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton had a big week as they picked up two commitments and now, they will host two of their top targets on campus this weekend.

Offensive lineman Tye Hylton will make the short drive up for Oviedo this weekend after he visited Miami and Penn State earlier this month. Florida State will get Hylton on campus, but the Gators have gotten Hylton on campus the most so far and this weekend is a chance for Florida to pull away from the rest of the group.

Offensive lineman Fletcher Westphal has been on campus several times already and likes the Gators a lot, but Arkansas, Clemson, and Georgia are also battling for Westphal. Arkansas will get the last visit from Westphal next weekend.

Talented offensive players to visit

Florida State receiver commit Tawaski Abrams will make the trip to Gainesville from Fort Myers, and this will be the second trip to Florida for the FSU commit. Texas A&M is also involved with Abrams who has continued to talk to both coaching staff despite his commitment.

Tight end Amir Jackson has long been a Gators lean after the Gators were one of the first to offer the Georgia native. Tennessee has tried to make things interesting and will get an official visit from Jackson next weekend, but Florida hopes to shut that visit down and gain a commitment from Jackson.

Commits coming back home

Running back Kahnen Daniels has been solid to the Gators since committing to Florida, but he did take an official visit to Michigan State last weekend. The Gators hope to put any doubts to bed with Daniels this weekend and get Daniels to shut down any thoughts of any other official visits.

Defensive back Josiah Davis committed to Florida in the spring and has been solid since then and says he has no other visits planned besides ones to Florida. Davis is a guy that the Gators are very high on and Davis plans to help recruit this weekend.
