Platt says the Florida Gators are sitting pretty high for him

The Florida Gators hosted two prospects committed elsewhere this weekend as the coaching staff hopes to flip both of those prospects.

Stanford tight end commit Jaden Platt (6-4, 235, Haslet, TX. Eaton) was on campus and says the visit exceeded his expectations.

“It was nice,” Platt said of his visit to Florida this weekend. “I really enjoyed it, me and my family, it shocked us. We had no expectations coming into this but they’ve [Florida] made it really difficult decision for me and my family.”

Platt is a big academic guy and that was a big reason he committed to Stanford, but the Gators rolled out the red carpet to show the tight end that Florida’s academics are good as well.

“My highlights because I’m a big academic guy so seeing the academic building was nice,” he said. “They even made personalized engineering meetings because that’s what I’m trying to pursue. Talking to the engineer majors and professors are cool people and they helped me.”

While on the visit, Platt had a chance to spend more time around the coaching staff and he liked how they were both on and off the field.

“It was good, talking with Coach Nape [Billy Napier] and Coach [William] Peagler, they know what they’re doing,” Platt said. “I feel like they can develop me, I really like them on a personal level and they’re really good people and they care about you. Coach Peagler has been at my house a couple of times and he’s coming back this week.”

Napier and Peagler explained to Platt just how they see him fitting into the offense and how they could get him the ball.

“They kind of want to put me more as a receiving tight end,” he said on where Florida sees him fitting in at. “They do have some blockers, but they want me to block but also go out for some passes. So more towards that H-tight end.”

After the visit, Platt says his decision is going to be a tough one as the Gators made a jump in his recruitment.

“Florida sits pretty high with me,” Platt said. “I really do like it there, it’s a nice place, and like my mom was telling me, it’s going to be a really difficult decision for me because there are just so many things to consider.”

Next up for Platt will be one more official visit and then he will talk with his family about whether or not to take a second official visit to Stanford or not.

“Texas A&M next weekend,” he said on plans coming up. “That’s another thing that I must talk to my family about [taking a second visit to Stanford]. If I still want to be committed to Stanford, serious discussions are going to be going on and seeing if that’s still possible for them.”
