The Florida Gators picked up a big commitment when an instate playmaker committed to the Gators on Tuesday.
Receiver Elias Pearl (5-11, 183, Port Charlotte, FL. High) committed to the Gators over Georgia and Ole Miss on Tuesday.
Pearl was last on campus in Gainesville for the spring where receivers coach Marcus Davis explained to him how he would fit into the offense.
“They say I’m very versatile so I can do a lot,” Pearl said of the message from Marcus Davis. “You know on the outside they can move me around, slot to the backfield, back at kick return, punt return all that stuff, kind of like Vernell [Brown].”
The receiver also has a close relationship with quarterback commit Davin Davidson and Pearl admitted in the spring that having Davidson in the class helped the Gators.
“I’ll say that it definitely gives them like a boost in my recruitment,” Pearl said of having his friend Davidson committed. “Having a quarterback as my friend committed to Florida, one of the best quarterbacks that definitely helps.”
Pearl had a really solid junior year where he caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 13 touchdowns, while also running for 253 yards and another 11 touchdowns for Port Charlotte.
With the addition of Pearl, the Gators now have three receiver commits as he joins Tramond Collins and Anthony Jennings in the class. The Gators would like to add one more receiver in the class.
Pearl is also the 16th commit in the class as he joins Collins, Jennings, quarterback Davin Davidson, running back Andrew Beard and tight ends Tommy Douglas and Jackson Ballinger as commits at the skill positions on offense.
