Patterson high on the Florida Gators following last week’s offer

Last weekend, the Florida Gators coaching staff continued offering prospects as they expand the recruiting board before the evaluation period starts next month.

Receiver Tyree Patterson (6-2, 175, Eustis, FL. High) picked up an offer from the Gators on Thursday after he talked to his position coach.

“Coach KC [Keary Colbert] called me and offered me,” Patterson said of the coach who offered him on Thursday. “When he offered me, he said all of the coaches had watched my highlights from the Under Armour camp and they liked it.”

Patterson was excited to pick up the offer from the Gators and it was a special one for both him and his father.

“I was smiling the whole time that Coach KC was telling me,” he said on his reaction to the offer. “We were on facetime, so he was laughing with me. The offer means a lot, growing up that was me and my dad’s favorite school, so it means a lot.”

Receivers coach Keary Colbert explained to Patterson just how he could fit into Florida’s offense if he was to come to Gainesville for college.

“He likes my game on the outside,” Patterson said on where Colbert wants him to play. “He said I reminded him of an older player that he coached at USC. We watched some film on how I run my routes and he liked the way I move into my routes and catch the ball and get to the endzone.”

After picking up the offer, Patterson says his interest in Florida is high because of the way his first visit to Gainesville went.

“It’s pretty high right now,” he said on his interest in Florida. “I just like the coaching staff, the way they made me feel welcomed on my first unofficial visit there. I just like the environment there, it felt like home, and I place I could go to college at one day.”

The Gators will have the chance to continue that momentum with Patterson this week when he returns for another visit.

“I’m going back up there for the spring game,” Patterson said on when he plans to return to Florida.
