Ojulari excited to receive a UF offer: Florida Gators recruiting

There are well over 100 offers out for the Florida Gators recruiting class of 2018 but as the coaches visit schools this spring that number will increase some as more prospects are evaluated.

On Monday, defensive end Azeez Ojulari (6-4, 224, Marietta, GA. High) was a prospect that received an offer from defensive line coach Chris Rumph.

“Coach Rumph,” Ojulari said of which coach offered him. “They said that they really liked my film and how I play the game. They said they need to get me on campus soon.”

Ojulari has double-digit offers already but he admits that receiving an offer from Florida was one he wanted.

“I’m very excited about it,” he said of what the offer means to him. “I know they’re going to be in my top list. They’re in the SEC, have big time football and great academics there.”

After Rumph offered Ojulari on Monday, the Gators coach explained why Florida needs the end in Gainesville.

“He said that they really like my game a lot,” Ojulari said of Rumph’s message. “He said that they need pass rushers like me and that I can play with my hand in the ground or as a stand-up end.”

Rumph isn’t the only coach that talks to Ojulari from Florida as his area recruiter has also sent him a message about needing him in Gainesville.

“Coach Rumph is a great guy, I also talk to Coach [JaJuan] Seider,” he said of his relationship with Florida. “He tells me that the whole defensive staff liked my film and they need to get me down there for a visit.”

Despite not visiting Florida yet, the defensive end has interest in the Gators and is planning to visit soon.

“It’s medium right now but I just need to visit first and that will go up,” Ojulari said of his interest in Florida. “I hope to go down there over the summer.”

Until Ojulari takes more visits, he’s holding off on naming a leader but he does know when he wants to narrow things down.

“There’s a lot of top schools for me,” he said. “I don’t have a top group yet but I will have one over the summer.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Alabama has been the school talked about the most with Ojulari but he has a lot of interest in Florida. If the Gators can get him down on a visit then that interest should improve.
