Norwood hoping for a Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators have yet to land a safety prospect for the Class of 2015 but on Saturday the Gators played host to an under the radar prospect that has had a good senior year.

That prospect is Cincinnati safety commit Josh Norwood (6-0, 165, Valdosta, GA High) who got the opportunity to talk to cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson on Saturday about a potential offer from the Florida Gators.

“I got to talk Coach T-Rob after the game about everything,” Norwood said. “He said that he liked my film a lot and that I was a good player and that I’m having a good year. He was talking about all of the offers that I have now and that he wants me to stay close to home. He said that he was going to give me a call about a potential offer.”

Norwood’s area recruiter is running backs coach Brian White and the safety also got the chance to talk with the Gators running backs coach oon Saturday.

“Coach White he was just thanking me for coming up for the game because he has been on me for awhile to get down there,” Norwood said. “He wanted to make sure I had a good time and he told me that Florida would be in touch with me.”

This was Norwood’s first big time SEC game on Saturday and he walked away impressed by the Swamp and the atmosphere in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

“The atmosphere was crazy and loud,” Norwood said. “It was a good game and the fans were really into it. Everything in there was great and really it was one of the loudest games I’ve seen. It was crazy in there.”

Robinson told Norwood to play close attention to the safeties on Saturday and Norwood liked what he saw from the Gators defense despite the tough loss.

“I love Florida’s defense, they have a great defense,” Norwood said. “They just have to make a few more plays at the right time. The secondary had a few mistakes but overall they did ok.”

An offer from Ohio State came last week for Norwood and he’s hoping a Florida offer comes soon as Norwood has a lot of interest in the Gators.

“I would be really interested in Florida if they offered me,” Norwood said. “I’m just going to talk to Coach T-Rob and see what happens after that. If they offer me than I plan to get back down there for a visit.”

INSIDER BUZZ: I think Florida wants to wait and see a little more from Norwood this season but he’s someone that has flown onto a lot of radar’s this year including Florida’s.
