Norman has an “eye opening” official visit with the Florida Gators

This weekend the Florida Gators hosted eight official visitors on campus including several prospects that have ties to IMG.

Defensive lineman Will Norman (6-4, 299, Bradenton, FL. IMG) was on campus and the Gators made a big impression on him and his family.

“It’s definitely more of a family atmosphere,” Norman said on his visit to Florida. “On an official visit, you get the chance to spend time with the other recruit and people around here. Just seeing everyone and spending the weekend with them was definitely eye-opening. It let me know that something could be big for this 2023 class.”

Norman is very familiar with what the Gators have to offer but he says every time he’s on campus, he sees something different.

“Knowing that I came here two or three times, stuff has updated since I came here last for the spring game,” he said on what was different with his official visit. “Scheme updates, how I would fit in updated. They just want to keep everything updated, they go over new plays, and they want to keep me updated honestly.”

Defensive line coach Sean Spencer broke down how he will use Norman on defense if he comes to Florida and how the Gators want to move him around.

“Definitely knowing that I’m a big guy but I’m athletic so just knowing they will have me slanting,” Norman said on how his meetings with the staff went. “They will have me in different run games, it’s eye-opening, I don’t want to be one of those defensive linemen that’s just full blow nose guard, I want to move around.”

Norman was hosted by a freshman defensive lineman who explained to Norman that the Gators need help up front.

“Chris McClellan,” he said on who his host was. “He says we need to get better up front and I would definitely be a big part of growing upfront. How Gervon [Dexter] he may not be here next year if he declares for the draft. They need to find some pieces to fill that gap.”

This weekend IMG offensive lineman and Florida commit Knijeah Harris was on campus and he has been working hard to get Norman to join him in Gainesville.

“Just to keep it going, we’re teammates at IMG,” Norman said on the message from Florida commit Knijeah Harris to him. “Just to keep the brotherhood going, Florida is a school we can all grow from and all benefit from. It’s open for players to come in and make an impact and he keeps letting me know that.”

Next up for Norman will be a trip to Happy Valley and then possibly two other official visits.

“As of right now I have Penn State booked for the 24th,” he said on other visits planned for this month. “I’m probably going to take one to Tennessee and USC, but I don’t have any official dates yet.”

The Gators left a big impression on Norman this weekend and the defensive lineman is already planning to return to Gainesville at least once more.

“Florida is definitely one of my top schools, just how genuine the coaching staff is,” Norman said on where Florida stands with him. “I’m definitely going to be back for a game. Definitely one of my top schools, I may be here for Friday Night Lights in July as well.”
