Florida offensive lineman Austin Barber was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the No. 86 overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Barber becomes the 44th Florida offensive lineman drafted since 1967. He joins fellow Gators Caleb Banks (defensive line) and Jake Slaughter (center) among Florida players selected so far.
After redshirting in 2021, Barber emerged the following season, appearing in all 13 games with five starts. Splitting time between left and right tackle, he allowed just one sack across 322 pass-blocking snaps. He also graded as Florida’s second-best run blocker, trailing only former second-round pick O’Cyrus Torrence.
Barber earned CFN Freshman All-American Honors for his efforts in 2022.
The 6-foot-6, 314-pound offensive tackle battled injuries throughout his career at Florida but still made 33 starts over his final three seasons, including 25 straight to close out his career.
Barber finished on a strong note, earning an 83.5 offensive grade from Pro Football Focus in 2025, which ranked second on the team behind running back Jadan Baugh. The Jacksonville, Florida native landed on the All-SEC Third Team, Phil Steele Fourth Team SEC All-Conference, and the Outland Trophy Watch List.
Barber put together a respectable showing at the NFL Combine, posting an Athleticism Score of 81, which ranked eighth among tackles at the event. He posted 32″ vertical and 9’3″ broad jump.
WHAT THEY’RE GTTING IN BARBER
Barber moves his feet well for someone who stands nearly 6-foot-7 and has a noticeable mean streak. He can climb to the second level and take on linebackers in space. While his technique in pass protection will need refinement, there is a lot to like about his athletic ability.
Florida’s former staff believed he could also play guard at the next level, which may ultimately be where he ends up. Barber brings versatility and experience to the Browns.
