Nash has a good relationship with Florida Gators coach Tim Brewster

Over the last few weeks the Florida Gators coaching staff has really expanded their recruiting board while they deal with time away from football.

North Carolina commit Dontavius Nash (6-2, 170, Gastonia, NC. Hunter Huss) was one of those who picked up an offer from the Gators.

“Coach [Tim] Brewster offered me,” Nash said of which coach from Florida offered him. “He was telling me how he loved the way I play and he thinks I’m a great student athlete.”

Nash grew up around a family member who pulled for the Gators but to get the offer from Florida caught him off guard.

“It means a lot, I grow up liking Florida, I was surprised,” he said on what the offer means to him. “It was a good feeling that they offered me and that’s who [his grandfather] team was.”

Tight ends coach Tim Brewster explained to Nash why the Gators like his game but they didn’t talk about a specific side of the ball that Nash could play at Florida.

“He said I get after it and that I’m very tough and I can make plays,” Nash said on what Brewster told him. “We didn’t speak on positions but I feel like I can play anywhere on the field, whether it’s offense or defense.”

Brewster and Nash have a relationship that dates back to the coach’s time at North Carolina.

“We have a cool relationship,” he said on his relationship with Brewster. “He always spoke to me at North Carolina and asked me about school and those things of nature.”

Nash hasn’t visited Florida but he does know a few things about the Gators and their success on defense.

“At the time I was younger so I just really watched defense but I like CJ Henderson,” Nash said on what he knows about Florida. “They have successful defensive backs and the defensive backs get after it.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Nash says he hasn’t decided yet on whether or not he will visit Florida.
