The Florida Gators picked up their 18th commitment of the Class of 2025 on Monday and also their third commitment of the day.
Receiver Muizz Tounkara (6-3, 195, League City, TX. Clear Springs) flipped his commitment from Arizona to Florida on Monday.
“I feel that Florida is the right fit for me,” Tounkara told GatorCountry.com.
Tounkara was impressed by the background and focus on the receivers room that the Gators coaching staff.
“Coach Napier is a head coach with a background of coaching wide receivers, he definitely has an emphasis on airing the ball out which gives guys like myself optimal opportunity to showcase our skills,” Tounkara said. “In addition to that you add Coach Gonzalez and his years of experience and track record. His resume is outstanding second to none being able to work/train under that type of guidance and experience is an opportunity you just shouldn’t pass by.”
Tounkara is a relatively new name to Gators’ fans as he was just offered in October and he quickly scheduled a visit for this past weekend where he enjoyed his time in Gainesville.
The Texas native is a big receiver who had 30 catches for 455 yards and five touchdowns this year. Tounkara also played some defense this year as well.
Tounkara is no stranger to college football as his older brother Serigne Tounkara is a defensive lineman for Cal.
With the addition of Tounkara the Gators address their need for a taller receiver in the class after they lost Joshua Moore to Miami earlier this fall.
Tounkara joins a receiver class that consists of Vernell Brown III and Nae’shaun Montgomery and the Gators are still communicating with Oregon receiver commit Dallas Wilson and Texas receiver commit Jaime Ffrench but both will be hard to flip away from their respective schools despite the Gators push down the stretch.
