Morgan sees all the resources the Florida Gators have for athletes

Over the last few weeks, the Florida Gators have hosted a lot of prospects on campus for visits including many out-of-state prospects.

Defensive back Jaylan Morgan (6-0, 180, Rockvale, TN. High) was on campus last week and was surprised by what the football program has to offer off the field.

“It was good, I really liked the coaches and campus,” Morgan said. “They have a lot of stuff that was different such as the educational facilities for the athletes. That really touched me, I loved the intensity at practice too.”

Defensive backs coach Will Harris was a big reason the defensive back visited Gainesville and Morgan spent the most time around him during the visit.

“Coach Will Harris, he’s one of my favorite coaches that has been recruiting me,” he said on the coaches he spoke to during the visit. “He’s real genuine, he cares about more than just the football aspect. He’s always checking on me and my grades, checking on my family. I spent a lot of time with Coach Napier, he’s a real chill dude, he’s one of the better coaches that I’ve met.”

Harris spent a lot of time going over the defense with Morgan and explaining to him how he would fit into the defense.

“He mainly just said that I’m a versatile defensive back so I can play anywhere,” Morgan said on where Harris wants him. “If that’s the star position, the safety position, a little bit of corner too. He thinks I can help at all those positions. They have solid defensive backs.”

Head coach Billy Napier also spent a lot of time with Morgan and was able to answer some questions from the Tennessee native about his game.

“He was just telling me to take my time through the recruiting process,” he said on the message from Napier. “He was encouraging and giving me advice. I was asking him questions about my gameplay, and he was giving me advice.”

After the visit, Morgan says the Gators moved up his list and he’s now really interested in the Gators for several reasons.

“I would say they’re pretty high on my list,” Morgan said on where Florida stands for him. “I’m very interested in Florida; I really like the school and what they have to offer. They have a lot of resources and I think it could be a place that I flourish at.”

Morgan is in the process of setting up an official visit to Gainesville but he says a few more unofficial visits are up next.

“I would like to have a decision made by the end of June, if it comes earlier than that, then I’m fine with that also,” he said. “I’m visiting Mississippi State next, then probably Louisville and Ole Miss. Maybe Purdue but I don’t know.”
