Moore has a “great all-around” visit with the Florida Gators

It has been a busy week for the Florida Gators coaching staff as they’ve hosted multiple virtual visits a day while also going through spring practice in the afternoons.

Defensive back Devin Moore (6-2, 175, Naples, FL. High) had one of those virtual visits on Sunday and both he and his mom enjoyed the visit.

“It was definitely very comforting and great all-around,” Moore said of his virtual visit with Florida. “My mom got to see more about what the Florida Gators have to offer, and when we got on we were surprised because the whole coaching staff was on and took time out of their day to talk to us. It was a great visit.”

Strength coach Nick Savage, Dan Mullen, and others were on the call but when the presentation finished, Moore spent a lot of time with his potential future position coaches.

“I stayed on longer with Coach [Wesley] McGriff and Coach Jules [Montinar] to talk more,” he said of the coaches he spoke to at length with during the visit. “He [Jules] has seen that I’m a very versatile DB because I’ve put film on at safety the first two years and the next two years I’m going to play corner. He sees I’m a versatile defensive back that can run. He just kind of likes me to fit in wherever I can get on the field fastest.

Moore has known cornerbacks coach Jules Montinar for three-plus years now so their relationship is very strong.

“Me and him have had a pretty strong relationship because he’s recruited me everywhere he’s been,” Moore said of his relationship with Montinar. “He started at Georgia when I got in high school and he’s never stopped developing our relationship with me and he actually went to the same high school that I currently go to now. So a lot of the coaches at my high school know him and talk about him as a really good dude and everything so our relationship is pretty good and he has met a lot of my family.”

Safeties coach Wesley McGriff is no stranger to Moore either as the former Auburn coach recruited the safety to join him on the Plains the last few years.

“He has talked about how he loves my build and my safety film,” he said on the talks with McGriff. “He actually recruited me at Auburn and he offered me at Auburn and he loved my film there, he also loved the corner film I put out this year. He also loves that I’m a very versatile DB, he says he would love to have me if Coach Jules doesn’t steal me at corner.”

Moore speaks highly of the new defensive backs coach and that has Florida sitting in a good spot early on for the Naples native.

“I have a lot of interest in Florida,” Moore said. “I mean Florida has a lot that I’m looking for, they have a strong business school, coaches that I have a strong relationship with and they have a very successful program and their program sends a lot of guys to the league and hopefully they could develop me into one of those guys.”

The Gators have some top teams also in contention for Moore but a decision date hasn’t been set yet.

“Alabama, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Stanford, and Nebraska,” he said on the schools recruiting him. “I’m going to talk that [when he wants to decide] over with my family one of these weeks and discuss that with them.”
