Mincey enters transfer portal

Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Gerald Mincey became the second Gator to enter the transfer portal on Monday. Defensive lineman Dante Zanders entered the portal earlier in the day.

Mincey, a three-star recruit, signed with UF in the Class of 2020 out of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale.

He only played in the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma as a true freshman. He played in 10 games this season, mostly on special teams. He was listed second on the depth chart at left tackle throughout the season, though Michael Tarquin started over him against Vanderbilt when Richard Gouraige was out with an injury.

Even with a new coaching staff coming in and the possibility of Gouraige seeking an NFL career, Mincey has opted for a fresh start somewhere else.

He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
