Michigan transfer LB Deuce Spurlock commits to Florida

Florida received their fifth commitment from the transfer portal this offseason when Michigan linebacker Deuce Spurlock pledged to the Gators on Sunday afternoon.

The Alabama native took to social media to announce his decision.

The Michigan linebacker entered the transfer portal on January 2nd following Michigan’s loss to TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. He immediately scheduled a visit with Florida on January 6th and committed just two days later.

Spurlock was a member of the 2022 recruiting class and attended Madsion Academy in Alabama. He was a two-way player in high school, playing receiver and linebacker. Spurlock totaled 79 tackles (73 solo), 8 sacks, and five QB hurries at LB in his senior season.

The true freshman only appeared in two games for the Wolverines, totaling 12 snaps and three tackles.

Spurlock stands at 6-1, 231-pounds, but put on roughly 20 pounds during his freshman season at Michigan.

This is a significant pick up because of the time Spurlock has to play in Gainesville. He will be a redshirt freshman next season with four years of eligibility remaining.

After losing Ventrell Miller and Amari Burney to eligibility, the Gators needed to hit the transfer portal at the linebacker position after signing just one in the high school ranks.

Florida has since added Teradja Mitchell and Deuce Spurlock to the room. Both guys will compete for a significant role in 2023.

Spurlock is expected to be on campus next week.
