Micah Jones commits to the Florida Gators over Mississippi State & others

The Florida Gators picked up a big out-of-state commitment on Friday at a position of need in the Class of 2025.

Tight end Micah Jones (6-5, 225, Madison, MS. Central) committed to Florida over Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss on Friday.

“For the next four years, I will be committing to the University of Florida,” Jones said.

Jones has been one of the Gators’ top targets at the position for over a year now.

The tight end has also become close with tight ends coach Russ Callaway and Jones likes the way the Gators use his position.

“I like the tight end room, they have a lot of good guys,” Jones said. “They have some good guys coming back from injuries and I know they had one 2024, they have a good set of guys. They use the tight end 100 percent of the time. They like to use two tight ends at times too.”

The Gators have made Jones feel like a priority during his visits and gave him the family feel to both he and his family.

“I love Florida and the tradition,” Jones said of Florida. “I liked the visit and there were good vibes around it. It was more of a family-like visit today for me and my family.”

Jones is the sixth commitment of the Class of 2025 for the Gators and the first tight end in the class as the Gators could take two at the position this year.
