Miami OL commit high on the Florida Gators

It seems like every Florida Gators recruiting fan is worried about the Gators offensive line recruiting for 2017, and rightfully so.

The Gators currently only have one commit in the class but are after several big name targets.

One of them is Miami offensive line commit Navaughn Donaldson (6-5, 335, Miami, FL. Central), who says he will now take an official visit to Gainesville this fall.

“I plan to take an official visit to Florida this fall,” Donaldson said. “I don’t have a date yet but it will be during my bye week. I’m early enrolling so I have to take all of my officials this fall. Right now I’m not sure who else I’ll take an official visit to but I know I’m going to take one to Florida. Miami is too close to get an official visit.”

The Gators landed an official visit after impressing Donaldson during his recent visit to Florida last month.

“The visit was good, I got to hang around the coaches a lot,” he said of his visit to Florida for Friday Night Lights. “I really liked the atmosphere and I got to meet all of the coaches.”

While in Gainesville Donaldson got to meet Florida offensive line coach Mike Summers for the first time and the meeting went well.

“It was great to meet Coach Summers,” Donaldson said of Summers. “He’s a great coach, he shows a lot of energy about the position. He’s a coach that knows the position and I would like to maybe play for him in college. Our relationship has definitely gotten better.”

The Gators have even turned up the heat on Donaldson more since the visit and the Miami commit says two coaches talk to him often.

“I talk to coach [Randy] Shannon, Coach [Kerry] Dixon and some of the players,” he said of he talks to from Florida. “Coach Shannon says that he would love to have me and they need me on campus. He says he wants to get me back on campus and stuff like that.”

Donaldson, who remains committed to Miami, says the Gators are one of the teams that is recruiting him the hardest.

“I talk to Florida pretty much every other day,” Donaldson said. “Florida is one of my top schools but I’m still committed to Miami.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Donaldson is one of Florida’s top targets on the offensive line and is someone the Gators are going all out for. Randy Shannon and Mike Summers are both recruiting Donaldson hard.
