Miami commit Brownlee has the Florida Gators sitting at number two

Several prospects committed to other schools were on campus for the Florida Gators Friday Night Lights event on Friday night including several instate targets.

Miami defensive back commit Jarvis Brownlee (5-10, 169, Miami, FL. Carol City) was on campus for the first time and got to see what all Florida has to offer.

“We got to go around and look at the academic buildings and things like,” Brownlee said on what he got to during the visit to Florida. “It was pretty good, the coaches showed me love and it was my first time getting to meet them so it was pretty good.”

Several coaches including defensive backs coach Charlton Warren spoke with Brownlee on Friday about how he fits into the Gators defense.

“That I’m a great and I’ll fit in good,” he said on the message from the coaches. “They said I’ll fit in good with the scheme because they play press coverage out the gate so I like press coverage.”

The Gators just offered Brownlee last week but the defensive back says that Florida has already risen up in his recruitment.

“They’re at number two right now so that’s good,” Brownlee said of Florida. “Their pitches are nice and walking around looking at the campus it was nice. The main thing I wanted to see was the academics to see how I would fit into the school and if I would like it.”

Despite the interest in the Gators, Brownlee says that he’s still solid with his commitment to Miami but did leave the door open for the Gators.

“Right now I’m 100 percent but I still have a whole year,” he said on his commitment status to Miami. “Things can change during the process and in the future.”

When asked what the Gators have to do in order to flip Brownlee, the Miami commit had one thing to say.

“Keep showing me love like they’re now,” Brownlee said on what Florida has to do to flip him. “And things might work out.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Brownlee says he plans to visit Florida and UCF this fall as he continues to build a relationship with the Gators coaching staff.
