McCloud impressed by the Florida Gators’ defense against Kentucky

The Florida Gators pulled off a big win on Saturday in blowout fashion against Kentucky and several commits and targets were in the stands watching the game.

Florida defensive line commit Jeramiah McCloud (6-3, 280, Leesburg, GA. Lee County) was in town and liked how the young players played.

“Big win tonight, we had a lot of young guys that looked good,” McCloud said of the visit to Florida. “They got a chance to show that. I liked how they all came together and pulled a win out after facing adversity.”

McCloud was impressed by the Gators defense that stood strong against Kentucky and the Florida commit sees that the defense is improving.

“I definitely see a change, it started up front and then the secondary,” he said on if he sees an improvement from the defense.

After the game, McCloud had the chance to talk with the Gators’ coaching staff including head coach Billy Napier who had a message for him.

“It was good, I just talked to coach about some things,” McCloud said on his talks with the staff. “Like me getting back down here, just talking about me keep coming back. I’ll be back, I’ll be here for LSU.”

Napier and McCloud also talked about the latest pursuit of Georgia who are coming on strong with McCloud.

“It did come up,” he said on if the talks of Georgia pushing came up during his talks with the staff. “That’s part of it, coach was just like you see what happened tonight, you can get your chance to come here, we play a lot of young tackles.”

McCloud admitted that he wasn’t sure what to expect from Florida on Saturday but he walked away saying the Gators made a big impression.

“They definitely helped themselves tonight with the win,” McCloud said on if Florida helps its chances with him. “The win was the most important thing, they showed me tonight with a win that they all came together.”

Next up for McCloud will be some official visits and he has two schools that he will visit for sure and one that he’s on the fence about.

“I have Florida State on November 1st probably, I may not make that,” he said on visits coming up. “I have Georgia set up, I might take that one on October 20th and then I don’t have a date for LSU yet.”

Heading into the visits, McCloud says he’s solid with his commitment to Florida but admits he’s listening to others.

“I’m pretty solid to Florida, I’m solid,” McCloud of his commitment status to Florida. “I’m just keeping my things, hearing other schools out and making sure I’m making the right decision.”
