Markway enjoys his first game day visit to see the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators had several of their commits in town on Saturday for the Tennessee game including all their 2023 commits.

2023 tight end commit Mac Markway (6-4, 250, Saint Louis, MO. DeSmet) was on campus for his first gameday in the Swamp and he enjoyed being around the coaches.

“The visit was amazing,” Markway said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “We talked to Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach Brew [Tim Brewster] all day. We also got to watch the walk through before the game.”

Markway and his family enjoyed the atmosphere in the Swamp and the tight end liked how the Gators’ offense played.

“The atmosphere was breathtaking,” he said of the Swamp. “The game was super fun to watch, and the tight ends played great. I loved watching them go to work in person, the blocking by the tight ends was great.”

Tight ends coach Tim Brewster explained to Markway on Saturday just how the Gators would use him once he gets to Gainesville.

“The message to me was they will use me everywhere right out of the gate,” Markway said of the message from Brewster to him. “My goal is to be the most versatile tight end he has coached.”

Head coach Dan Mullen also had a message for Markway and his family while they were on campus for the game.

“Coach Mullen talked to my family and I about the program itself,” he said on the message from Mullen. “How he sees it being the top program in country in a few years.”

After the visit to Gainesville, Markway says his commitment to Florida is solid and his relationship with the coaches is growing.

“They definitely solidified it for sure,” Markway said on his commitment status following the visit. “My relationship is very close with the coaches. I enjoy talking to all of them.”
