Marchiol calls Florida Gators virtual visit the best experience

Over the last few weeks, the Florida Gators coaching staff has hosted several virtual visits including multiple 2022 quarterbacks.

2022 quarterback Nicco Marchiol (6-2, 216, Chandler, AZ. Hamilton) was one of those guys who took a virtual visit and he enjoyed his visit.

“It was a good visit, I was able to see everything the school had to offer,” Marchiol said. “From the academic center to the beaches near Gainesville, it was the best experience I’ve had on the phone with a school by far.”

While on the visit, Marchiol had a chance to talk to several coaches and he enjoyed the academic pitch the Gators had for him and his family.

“Every coach on the staff was on the call,” he said. “They very welcoming to my grandmother and I. What stood out to me was what pride they take in their facilities and how much they care for their players both on the field and in the classroom. I was told they have academic tutors for each student and they will be with you for your entire stay at the University of Florida.”

Quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson also explained to Marchiol how he would fit into Florida’s offense.

“The main message to me was that they were looking for a quarterback who displays great leadership on and off the field,” Marchiol said on the message from Johnson. “They look for a quarterback who they can turn to in tough situations and games and know they will their job done. Coach Johnson likes that I was very dynamic and could get out of the pocket and make plays happen downfield.”

Head coach Dan Mullen also talked with Marchiol about the history of playing quarterback at Florida.

“Coach Mullen seemed super excited to have me on the phone and he said that they’re looking for the next great lefty quarterback to come to the University of Florida,” he said of Mullen’s message to him. “As you know the last lefty at the University of Florida did a pretty good job.”

Following the visit Marchiol says he has high interest in the Gators and likes several things about Florida.

“My interest level definitely increased a lot more after the virtual tour,” Marchiol said. “I feel like they have a lot to offer me outside of football. I could definitely see myself playing under Coach Johnson and Coach Mullen one day.”

After the virtual tour, Marchiol says he would like to visit Gainesville as several other schools are recruiting him hard.

“I will definitely be back to visit Florida as soon as I’m able to leave again,” he said. “The other schools that have been recruiting me the hardest are TCU, Florida State, Michigan, Georgia and USC.”
