While the Florida Gators recruiting class is already a solid one, several prospects who are expected to announce a commitment soon were in Gainesville on Saturday night.
Defensive lineman Jamari Lyons (6-4, 295, Melbourne, FL. Viera) was on campus on Saturday and liked how the Gators played in front of the crowd.
“I loved the atmosphere, the fans were going crazy,” Lyons said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “The game was crazy itself; it was a really good game. Both teams played well on both sides of the ball.”
The Gators’ defensive line has played well all year and on Saturday Lyons was impressed by their play.
“The defensive line is stopping everything, it’s going crazy,” he said on Florida’s defensive line. “Stopping the run, getting to the quarterback and making him hurry and throw incomplete passes. I think the defensive line played very well.”
Defensive line coach David Turner explained to Lyons that he will play multiple positions if he comes to Florida.
“He pretty much told me that I can be a big impact player here,” Lyons said on the message from David Turner. “He sees me playing across the line.”
The Gators have long been high on Lyons’ list of schools, and he says that’s the case for several reasons.
“Recruiting me hard and showing me love,” he said what keeps Florida high on his list. “I’m also a Florida guy, born and raised here. That’s a big plus too. They make me feel at home, I love it here.”
Next up for Lyons will be one more visit and then he will announce his decision shortly afterwards.
“October 6th,” Lyons said on when he will announce his decision. “I have my official visit to South Carolina next week.”
