Longergan excited to pick up a Florida Gators offer

Dan Mullen has no problem at all recruiting quarterbacks to Florida and last week the Gators offered a quarterback for the 2023 class.

2023 quarterback Dylan Longergan (6-1, 195, Snellville, GA. Brookwood) picked up an offer from the Florida Gators after talking to an assistant coach.

“Coach Brian Johnson offered me,” Lonergan said on who offered him last week. “He said he was waiting to watch a few of my games for this year to see what they wanted to do and he was very impressed and he offered me.”

Longergan has nine offers already including some big schools but he says an offer from Florida was big to him.

“It’s cool to get an offer from a big school like Florida,” he said on what it means to pick up the offer. “I was very excited to get this one.”

Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson didn’t talk to Longergan last week about the offense as he was trying to get to know the signal-caller.

“I didn’t really talk much about that, we are just starting to build a relationship,” Longergan said on if Johnson talked to him about him fitting into the offense. “So far we’re just getting to know each other and we talked a little about Florida. He said he liked how I played and just that he was very impressed.”

Longergan hasn’t had a chance to research Florida much but he does know a few things about them since he visited Gainesville last year.

“I don’t know much about them but I plan on looking into it,” he said on what he knows about Florida. “I visited for the Tennessee game last year and I really enjoyed their campus and the energy at the Tennessee game last year. I just really enjoyed the campus and the stadium/facilities.”

The quarterback is also a big-time baseball player so he will have a choice to make there as well but Longergan says several schools including Florida is recruiting him hard for football.

“It’s a school I will definitely look at when I’m looking at the ones I might go to,” Longergan said on his interest in Florida. “LSU, Georgia and Auburn are also recruiting me hard for football.”
