The Florida Gators picked up their 17th commitment on Wednesday when they flipped an in-state prospect.
Linebacker Jaden Robinson (6-1, 215, Lake City, FL. Columbia) flipped his commitment from South Carolina to Florida on Wednesday.
“Only Gators Get out Alive,” Robinson tweeted. “Committed.”
Robinson picked up an offer from the Gators in June but committed to South Carolina shortly after that, but he visited Gainesville for the cook-out in July.
The linebacker was on campus several times in the spring and spoke with linebackers Jay Bateman a lot during those visits.
“Just linebacker right now,” Robinson said on what the coaches have told him about where he would play. “They haven’t said Mike or Will yet but that will be up to Coach Bateman. They like that I play well at the Mike, and they need me.”
Robinson has built a good relationship with Bateman and outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson who he has known for several years now.
“Mike P [Mike Peterson] and Coach [Jay] Bateman,” he said on the coaches he was around the most. “They’re great coaches and great guys. They have great energy.”
Robinson is the first linebacker commit in the Class of 2023 and the Gators would like to add at least one more in the class with South Carolina commit Grayson Howard being a top target for the staff.
