LB Tre Geathers commits to the Florida Gators over Tennessee

The Florida Gators picked up a big out of state commitment on Thursday afternoon from one of their top targets.

Linebacker Tre Geathers (6-1, 195, Charlotte, NC. Providence Day) committed to Florida over Tennessee and South Carolina on Thursday.

“For the next three to four years, I’ll take my talents to the University of Florida,” Geathers said.

Geathers who took an official visit to Gainesville on May 28th decided after visiting both Florida and Tennessee that he was ready to shut down his recruitment and it was then that he informed the coaching staff that he wanted to be a Gator.

As a junior, Geathers accounted for 72 tackles, 7 tackles, two interceptions, 8 pass break-ups, and one blocked punt.

Geathers join a linebackers class that includes linebackers Ellis McGaskin and Ja’Bios Smith an each play a different position as Geathers is expected to play the SAM linebacker spot.

The Gators now have 23 commits in the Class of 2027 as they draw closer to finishing up the class.
