Lane receives another big offer

Linebacker is a priority recruiting position for 2015 for the Florida coaching staff which extended an offer to Sh’mar Kilby Lane (6-2, 215, Hallandale, FL High) Monday.

“Florida offered me a scholarship on Monday afternoon,” Lane said. “My high school coach was actually the person who told me that Florida offered me. He just said that I had the offer from Florida.”

Lane, who now has double figures offers from top colleges, says that receiving an offer from Florida is very big.

“It’s a great offer to have from Florida.” Lane said. “I know that Florida wants me at outside linebacker in its defense. Florida is a nice school so that’s cool to get the offer.”

Lane and Hallandale are both known for an aggressive style of play at Hallandale, which is what Lane likes about Florida’s defensive scheme.

“They have a good defense,” Lane said. “They run a quick fast and aggressive style of defense that I could see myself playing in. They run that 3-4 defense which is a good defense for me and the same style of defense that I run in high school.”

Lane has never visited Florida before but he plans to change that as soon as he speaks with his area recruiter.

“I most definitely plan to visit Florida,” Lane said. “My coach told me to call Coach Travaris Robinson and set something up with him. I plan to call him and see when would be a good time for me to come up there and see Florida.”

When Lane does get up to Florida for a visit he knows exactly what he’s looking to see out of the Gainesville campus.

“I want to check out the facilities and the weight room,” Lane said. “I want to see the coaches and see how the college life is. I also want to kind of see how the campus is set up there.”
