Knox enjoyed the atmosphere in the Swamp on Saturday night

The Florida Gators had a lot of visitors in the Swamp on Saturday to watch the Gators take on Kentucky in game two of the season.

Receiver Trey Knox (6-4, 204, Murfreesboro, TN. Blackman) was one of those visitors in the Swamp and he liked the atmosphere in the stadium.

“The visit was great, it was great to get back down here with the new staff,” Knox said. “You know I came up here a couple of months ago and really connected with Coach Mullen so just coming out here and seeing the atmosphere was really amazing. The fans stuck behind their team until the end. A few questionable calls but we not going to speak on that.”

Knox got to speak to several coaches while on campus on Saturday night and they had a simple message for him about the Gators.

“Just to come back and this is home,” he said on the message from the coaching staff. “Come play in the Swamp, they’re looking for receivers to make plays and they need receivers and things.”

The receiver from Tennessee has been high on the Gators for a long time now and Knox explained why that is the case.

“Definitely just the love,” Knox said on what stands out about Florida to him. “This was my first offer when I was 14 so definitely being the first offer, that’s very big in my opinion. Just people in my circle that went here and loved it so that opens my eyes.”

Knox who had a good relationship with the previous staff says receivers coach Billy Gonzales has done a good job recruiting him and talking to him about the position.

“Just definitely hitting my phone, we text a lot,” he said on what has kept Florida up there for him. “Me and Coach Gonzales talk about what he can do to develop receivers. He had a bunch of receivers go to the league so I think that’s really big in a receivers coach. We talk on the phone all the time.”

The Tennessee native has one official visit planned and is trying to lock in another one as his October 1st commitment date is closing in.

“I’m going to Tennessee on the 22nd,” Knox said on official visits coming up. “I’m going to try to official here [Florida] next weekend because they did defense this weekend so hopefully they will do offense next weekend and I come down.”
