Kimbrough ready to sign with the Florida Gators after his official visit

This weekend the Florida Gators host two committed prospects on campus for official visits as they plan to sign early next weekend.

Defensive back commit Chester Kimbrough (5-10, 167, New Orleans, LA. Warren Easton) was one of them and the people at Florida stood out to him.

“Mainly just seeing new people and talking to the players,” Kimbrough said of the highlight of his official visit to Florida. “Meeting the coaches again too.”

Kimbrough was going to take an official visit last weekend but his team made the state championship but this weekend lived up to his expectations.

“I’ve been trying to get here for my official but I just never had time because of our football season,” he said on if he’s been looking forward to his official visit. “It met all of the expectations that I was expecting.”

Heading into the visit, Kimbrough wanted to get a better feel for the current players and he did that this weekend.

“I did connect with the players,” he said of connecting with the players this weekend. “They made me feel like home, they fed me, they let me lay my head somewhere so we communicated good.”

The coaching staff also broke down to Kimbrough just how much of a need he is to the defense and how he can get on the field as a freshman.

“When I get here, I’m expecting to have a lot of playing time,” Kimbrough said of the coaches’ message to him. “I’ll try to play as hard as I can and get a good role out there. They stressed early playing time a lot.”

Kimbrough’s relationship with the coaching staff has been a key for Florida and this weekend only improved those relationships.

“It’s like we’re all one big family,” he said on his relationship with the coaching staff. “All of them are like my fathers, they take care of me when I need it.”

Next up Kimbrough will be his signing day on Wednesday and he’s ready to put his signature on the paper.

“I don’t really know yet,” he said on if he knows what time he’s signing on Wednesday. “I’m signing though, it’s going to feel good because I can settle down and just focus on my grades and school work.”

The Gators will be glad to have the signature on Thursday and he says he knew Florida was home since the first time he visited Gainesville.

“Mainly just the communication that they brought to the table,” Kimbrough said on what has kept him committed so long. “The first time I came here it felt like home and they kept stressing that to me and I can play a big role here.”
