Kicker Trey Smack commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up their ninth commitment on Wednesday and their third commit of the week.

Kicker Trey Smack (6-2, 200, Severna Park, MD. Senior) committed to Florida over offers from Air Force, Navy, and Virginia Tech on Wednesday.

“I am beyond excited to open the next chapter of my kicking career! I have committed to the University of Florida,” Smack tweeted on Wednesday.

Smack visited Florida earlier this month and worked out for the Gators and on Monday was offered a scholarship from the Gators.

“I was extremely excited and shocked,” Smack said of his Gators offer. “I’ve always wanted to play as a Gator and it was my dream to play football at such a high level.”

The Maryland prospect is rated the number three kicker in the country by Kohl’s kicking and the number five punter in the country but Dan Mullen wants Smack as a kicker first.

“He told me to major in kicking and minor in punting,” he said of the message from Mullen. “Which claims that I will mainly focus on kicking but also have a punting opportunity.”

The Gators currently have two senior kickers on the team in Chris Howard and Jace Christmann so adding a kicker in the 2022 class was a must for the coaching staff.
