The Florida Gators picked up their sixth commitment for the 2022 class on Thursday when an out-of-state prospect picked the Gators.
Cornerback Julian Humphrey (6-1, 185, Houston, TX. Clear Lake) committed to Florida over Penn State on Texas A&M on Thursday.
“I want to say thanks to all the coaches who have been recruiting me since my freshman year with that being said, this is the Swamp, #committed” Humphrey’s tweeted.
Humphrey picked up an offer from the Gators last month and called the Gators a dream school despite living in Texas.
“Florida is a dream school and it’s a great place, I have a lot of family down there,” Humphrey said. “Florida is a high interest now, because of the tradition, the campus, and everything about the school is great, the football is great, and everything about them.
Cornerbacks coach Jules Montinar offered Humphrey and wants him to be on an island as a corner because of his track speed.
“He told me that he’s recruiting me as an outside corner to go lock down receivers,” Humphrey said on where Jules wants him to play. “He thinks that I will fit in very good because they play man. He asked me if any receiver would ever beat me deep and I said no receiver would ever beat me deep, no matter what happens.”
Humphrey has never visited Gainesville before but that will change in June when he visits the Gators and the cornerback still plans to take other visits to other schools.
The cornerback is the first one at his position in the class and joins defensive end, Francois Nolton, as the only members on the defensive side of the ball in the class.
