The Florida Gators picked up their fifth commitment for the Class of 2024 on Monday afternoon when an out-of-state prospect committed to the Gators.
Safety Josiah Davis (6-1, 185, Nashville, GA. Berrien) committed to Florida over Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina State, and Tennessee on Monday afternoon at his school.
Davis has visited Gainesville twice this spring after picking up an offer from the Gators and during both visits he liked the way Florida practiced.
“It was great, they had a lot of energy coming into the first practice,” Davis said of Florida’s practices. “It was great to watch Coach [Corey] Raymond and Coach [Jay] Bateman, they did a great job of teaching the guys what to do. I liked it.”
The Georgia native is an athlete who plays both sides of the ball and is also a good special teams player is being recruited to play in the Gators’ defensive backfield.
“Coach Bateman is who I talked to the most,” Davis said. “He said they would love to have me down there and stuff like that. I can play all over the field, but he likes me at safety. He can roll me down sometimes at weak safety and then play me at free safety sometimes too.”
After visiting Gainesville, Davis quickly named the Gators his leader and now joins DJ Lagway, Myles Graham, Adarius Hayes, and Chauncey Bowens as members of the Class of 2024.
As a junior, Davis scored 15 touchdowns on offense, recorded 70 tackles, and also returned 7 kickoffs for touchdowns.
