The Florida Gators picked up commitment number 23 on Friday when offensive lineman Josh Braun (6-6, 335, Live Oak, FL. Suwannee) committed to the Gators.
The offensive lineman graduated from Suwannee and will now begin practicing with the Gators on Friday
Braun who was committed to Georgia for months left the Bulldogs class on Wednesday just days after offensive line coach Sam Pittman left Georgia for Arkansas.
The offensive lineman took an official visit to Florida in the spring and it was during that trip that get got to spend a lot of time with offensive line coach John Hevesy.
“Just that he will develop me into the best football player I can be,” Braun said of Hevesy’s message to him. “He says that I have the athleticism to play tackle and the size and physicality to play guard so he says me as a fluid player.”
It was during that trip that Hevesy also explained to Braun that the Gators desperately needed linemen in the 2020 class.
“He talked to me about it and doesn’t bother me at all,” he said on Florida taking 7 linemen last year. “He has explained to me that they had a severe need on the offensive line when they got there so last year had to be a big class for them and the more competition the better for me. I don’t really care to start early on in my career as long as I get developed and I don’t play before I’m ready.”
Now that Braun is committed to the Gators he joins offensive lineman Richard Leonard who enrolled on Friday and he joins Jovens Janvier and Gerald Mincey as members of the class of 2020.
