Jones still has the Florida Gators on top following his visit to UF

This weekend the Florida Gators coaching staff had two of their top remaining offensive line targets in town as it’s a position the staff still needs players at in the class.

Offensive lineman Caden Jones (6-8, 305, New Orleans, LA. De La Salle) was on campus and was able to see a different side of the campus and the coaching staff.

“It was different, it was completely different,” Jones said on if the visit this weekend was different from others. “I enjoyed myself and I had a great time but when you go to a place for the fifth time, it’s kind of the same picture over and over again so that’s what I thought it was going to be. When I got down here it was a completely different thing. It was a good thing.”

Jones has been on campus a lot, so he has seen everything the Gators’ have to offer but this time was more about being around the players and he got that chance.

“We did eat a lot,” he said on the highlights of the visit. “Spending some time with the other recruits and players was also a plus. That’s all I could ask for.”

While on campus this weekend, Jones had several commits in his ear about Florida and the commits have bonded with Jones so far.

“It actually does because I gel with some of them quickly,” Jones said on if having commits in town helps Florida. “Like Rod Kearney, Bryce [Lovett], and Knijeah Harris, I talk to them a lot and just going through it with them and Shariff Denson talking to them. The gel was easy and kind of bonded with some of the players they have here already.”

When Jones sat down to talk ball with the coaching staff, they made it known that they need offensive linemen in this class badly.

“They made it known that they need tackles,” Jones said. “They don’t really have a lot of guys and they absolutely need tackles. It was good sitting down and talking with Coach [Jabbar] Juluke, Coach [Darnell] Stapleton [Rob] Sale, and Coach [Billy] Napier. We had a great conversation.”

Next up for Jones will be a trip to Texas A&M and then the lineman plans to announce his decision after the New Year.

“I plan to sign in February because my school doesn’t do early registration,” he said on his timeline. “I’m committing January 7th at the All-American game. I’m at Texas A&M next weekend.”

Heading into the visit, Jones had the Gators on top and he says nothing has changed with his leader.

“No sir not at all,” Jones said on if anything has changed on Florida being his leader. “It’s just the bond, it’s really easy talking to them, I talk to them like I’ve known them for years.”
