Jones recaps his wild Thursday that included picking up a Florida offer

Last week, the Florida Gators coaching staff not only conducted several virtual visits but they also handed out several new offers.

2022 offensive lineman Emery Jones (6-5, 300, Baton Rouge, LA. Catholic) picked up the offer after he heard the news from his coach.

“Coach Brian Johnson is the one that offered me,” Jones said. “I didn’t speak to him personally but I got the offer right after the LSU offer and the Alabama offer. My coach called me and told me that they also offered.”

Thursday was a huge day for Jones as those three big schools offered him but he says picking up an offer from Florida was big to him.

“It means a lot, Florida has a great program,” he said on what the offer means to him. “That offer added on to my shock that I was in from the other offers that I got five minutes before that one.”

Most recruits dream of picking up offers from LSU, Florida and Alabama but Jones experienced all of that in an hour’s time and he tried to explain that emotion.

“I was surprised, happy, shocked all at the same time,” Jones said of picking up those three offers so quickly. “Those are all huge schools that I got offered to, those were schools that I dreamed about playing for. So I was mostly shocked about the whole thing.”

Jones hasn’t visited Florida yet but he says he does know a few things about the Gators program.

“I know that they have a really good team,” he said on what he knows about Florida. “I also know that they are really good academic school and I also like their jerseys. I like the players that they have there and the men that help and guide them.”

The Gators will have its work cut out for them as Jones grew up close to LSU’s campus but he’s looking at a few schools hard.

“Definitely LSU was a favorite just because of it’s my hometown and it’s were I grew up,” he said on favorites in his recruitment. “Also schools like Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Clemson just because of what those schools have achieved over the years.”
